DIY COFFE SCRUB - ANTI CELLULITE & ANTI STRECH MARKS
CELLULITE FACTS
As common as cellulite is, there's also an awful
lot of misinformation out there about what it is, what causes it, and how to
get rid of it. So before placing blame, scheduling a cosmetic procedure, or
spending a fortune on over-the-counter products, read up on the real story
behind cellulite.
Having cellulite doesn't mean you are overweight.
Even thin people can have it. If you are overweight,
however, losing weight may reduce cellulite.
Cellulite is more common among women
than men. If other women in your family have cellulite, there's a good chance
you will too. Hence it is genetic.
This cosmetic condition affects nearly 90% of
women at some point during their lives, even women who are otherwise slender
and fit.
Some over-the-counter cellulite products may
claim to help remove impurities and toxins from the body. But neither their
efficacy nor their claims about what causes cellulite are supported by science.
Rather, cellulite occurs when underlying fat deposits begin to push through
layers of collagen fibres, or connective tissue, under the skin (often in the
buttocks and thigh areas, but also on arms, stomach etc. Hormones can weaken
connective tissue, lack of exercise and muscle tone, excess fat, and poor
circulation.
Tip: You can help the reduction of cellulite by eating cucumbers, tomatoes and bell peppers. Also toning of muscles help in reducing the appearance of cellulite.
Cellulite enemy #1 is caffeine, which tightens and provides
antioxidants to the skin when applied topically. When applied religiously, it
has been shown to reduce the appearance of cellulite, especially over time.
Here, we combine coffee grounds with moisturising, skin-soothing coconut oil
and a bit of sea salt for an extra exfoliating kick. By massaging this trifecta
onto any problem area, you'll stimulate blood flow resulting in smoother,
firmer skin.
Coffee
grounds
Cinnamon powder
Coconut
oil
Sea
salt or Sugar
Lemon
Measure out the dry ingredients and combine in a large
measuring cup or bowl.
Melt the coconut oil in the microwave if solid, and add lemon
juice to the mixture.
Transfer contents to a waterproof jar or container.
In the shower, apply your scrub to areas with cellulite.
Massage the scrub onto skin in a circular motion before rinsing. Repeat every
time you shower for best results.
Benefits:
Coffee
has caffeine, which helps to reduce the appearance of cellulite. Also acts a a good exfoliant.
Coconut
oil is a wonder product, it not only nourishes the skin making it soft and
supple, reduces the appearance of stretch marks; but it also helps in several other ways to maintain a healthy body.
Sea
salt or Sugar helps to exfoliate to remove all the dead skin.
Lemon juice helps in lightening the skin giving the skin an even tone.
Cinnamon used on the
skin seems to increase collagen levels for up to six hours after it is applied.
Breakdown of collagen causes the skin to lose elasticity and increases signs of
ageing. It also helps to restore the
shine and suppleness of skin. It increases blood circulation, hence helps in firming the skin.
Tip: Before getting in the shower, use your dry brush to exfoliate
and stimulate blood flow. Brush lightly in
a circular motion on any problem areas, or all over your body to reap the full
benefits of dry brushing.
I am 32, and have struggled with cellulite most of my adult life. Dermalm d Cellulite Serum definitely feels wonderful, tingly from the menthol. The menthol smell dims to a nice light floral scent. The cream is especially soothing on my legs after a run. I also have very sensitive skin, and I find that this lotion adds the right moisture without irritation. Would recommend this to just about anyone, as long as you don't mind a menthol smell for the first hour or so after use!
